Energy

Schools in Kenya now have the opportunity to harness the power of green energy through solar power. This innovative initiative is made possible through a partnership between KCB Bank and Sentinel Energy. KCB Bank will be providing financing to both public and private schools for the installation of solar power systems.

This collaboration is anticipated to have a significant impact on schools by reducing their electricity expenses associated with lighting, cooking, and water heating. By transitioning to solar power, schools will not only save money but also contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

Tree Planting

Kwale County is embarking on an ambitious initiative to plant over 290,000 trees in collaboration with the Global Evergreening Alliance. This partnership aims to enhance environmental conservation and sustainability within the county.

The tree planting program is designed to rehabilitate 70,000 hectares of land in the county, ultimately benefiting the livelihoods of 50,000 smallholder farmers.

By restoring degraded landscapes, the project will improve soil retention, prevent soil erosion, and reduce water loss. Additionally, it will play a crucial role in bolstering community resilience to climate change through the implementation of advanced farming techniques.

This endeavor represents a crucial step towards creating a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future for Kwale County.
