Kenya is proving to be the global go-to destination for witnessing the incredible twin births as the sight of an elephant mama with not one, but two adorable calves is truly a sight to behold.

The latest double dose has been reported in Shimba Hills National Reserve, Kwale County, making it the fifth occurrence of twin births among elephants in Kenya in less than a decade.

“Talk about a double dose of blessings from mother nature! An elephant with twins was spotted in Shimba Hills National Reserve—a rare and heartwarming sight to kick off the new year,” announced KWS in a statement.

Twin births among elephants are a rare and remarkable event, with only about 1 percent of elephant pregnancies resulting in twins. The survival of both calves can be a challenge, as the mother often struggles to provide enough milk for two.

In 2023 and 2022 two twin births were reported in Samburu National Reserve.
