This advisory follows closely on the heels of the Met Department’s previous alert regarding Cyclone Hidaya, which was anticipated to impact Kenya on May 5 but ultimately weakened after making landfall in Tanzania. Tropical Cyclone Ialy originated in the Indian Ocean south of Seychelles last Tuesday, moving at a speed of 35 kilometers per hour. It has since intensified into a severe Tropical Cyclone, now moving at 100 kilometers per hour. It is projected to decrease in strength today, downgrading to a moderate Tropical Storm with winds of 95 kilometers per hour. The primary risks associated with cyclones include strong winds, heavy rainfall, and the potential for flooding.
