Coastal Counties First in Line as El Niño Rains Start

Kenya’s coastal counties are expected to be the first to experience heavy rainfall linked to a strengthening El Niño and positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and the Tana Delta are already receiving significant rains, raising concerns over flash floods, displacement, crop damage and transport disruptions as rainfall spreads inland.
